Hill College bareback rider places fourth in CNFR second go-round

The second go-round of the 2018 College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, Wyo., was held Tuesday, June 12. Hill College rodeo athlete Zach Hibler of Wheeler scored a 77.5-point ride on his bareback horse and placed fourth in the go-round and seventh in the average. Colby Fedor of Grandview scored a 72-point ride and placed 14th in the second go-round.

John Douch of Huntsville had a 4.4-second run in steer wrestling and tied for seventh place in the second go-round and currently fifth in the average. He had a no time in the tie down roping. 

In the team roping event, heeler Colton Brittain of Rockwall, and North East Texas Community College header Wyatt Muggli, caught their steer in 18.3 seconds. Cyle Dennison of Iowa, La. and Clay Sieber of Troup missed their steer. 

Ezkiel Mitchell of Baytown had a no score in the bull riding. The Hill College men’s team moved into ninth place of the CNFR after the second go-round. 

The third go-round will take place each evening at 7 p.m., June 13-15, and the final go-round will be held Saturday, June 16.The CNFR will be broadcasting the Wednesday through Saturday performances live. This is Hill College’s 28th appearance at the CNFR lead by Head Coach Paul Brown. During his tenure, Hill College has had nine individual National Champions (eight in bull riding and one in calf roping) and nine Reserve National Champions. His teams have accumulated 19 Regional Team Championships, 12 Reserve Regional Team Championships and finished in the Top 10 national team standings 17 times.
